Soul’s Toast
Not going to lie – we drove specifically to chemainus just to try this unique place and it did not disappoint! We shared the angry tuna and shrimp toast and both were very good. The angry tuna has a nice kick and is a little spicy, while the shrimp toast is very flavorful. The owner is extremely nice and came to check up on the meal while we were eating. The neighbourhood is also really cute and worth walking around as well. Looking forward to my next trip out there to have another toast!

Such an unusual sandwich combination! I had the #5 shrimp puff. It was huge! Lots of carnage, great sauce, the shrimp puff was generously sized and the flavour combination was delicious. My husband had the #2 - The angry Tuna sandwich. The Spicy sauce was just fabulous. The cabbage gave it good crunch and the flavour sensation was great!

Honestly, one of the best places I've eaten recently! Unique sandwiches with awesome flavor combos, and made perfectly. The portions are insane for the price, and even though I'm an eater, I left with part of my sandwich. They're stacked HIGH so be prepared to spread your jaws. The owner and chef is super polite and kind, coming out to check how we were doing, even though this really is a takeout spot. He's cooking simple (but unique) food to perfection. Our group tried the angry egg (nice and spicy but not insane), Soul's toast (the sweet kiwi sauce is so good) and the shrimp sandwich (the tempura patty could be a meal by itself). Highly recommend them all, and checking out this spot on your way up, or down island.

Popped in here based on reviews alone and was not disappointed! Tasty, unique toast sandwiches with yummy seasoned potato puffs (Tater tots). I got the angry tuna, which was spicy and filling with a lot of flavour. Hubby got the gravy soul and was absolutely stuffed and could barely finish it. The portions are generous. The space has outside seating, parking and Chef Soul has music playing to create a nice atmosphere. I think the true star of these toasts is the egg, which also has a lot of flavour and soul (pun intended) - almost has a tamago-like flavour.Located next to the malahat gas station (currently under construction) and a must stop whether you’re going up or down island.

Souls Toast was a unique, tasty experience with the food and service, i tried out the original Souls Toast sandwich with tatersAnd in one word, awesome!!The family had the shrimp sandwich and the angry egg sandwich, we all got the meal deals which came with sandwich, parmesan taters and choice of soft drinks.3 meals that over filled and over delivered for under 50 bucks. We definitely will be back, very kind owner that delivers unique tasty food and quality service for a reasonable price. Worth a drive, worth the visit and the money. You won't be disappointed. Support this local business!!
